Submissive or Excitement Urination
* Notes Links not working
at last update First please realize that this has
almost nothing to do with housetraining. Submissive
urination is done instinctively by a dog who's trying
to make it as clear as he can, in dog language, that he knows you're the
boss! Unlike normal urination, submissive urination is usually accompanied
by other signals of submission such as lowered ears, lowered tail, lowering
his body or sometimes even laying down and rolling over.
Berating a dog for it in any way is not at all helpful. Adding fear of punishment
or showing any behavior on your part that can be translated by the dog
as aggressive only makes it much much worse. Being usually a puppy behavior,
many grow out of it, but not all. Confidence is the key to helping these
dogs.
